Known locally as ludong and the most expensive fish in the Philippines is now rare and elusive. A kilo of this fish specie may cost you four thousand pesos. They live in fresh water and only go to the sea to spawn and after spawning they go back to the upstream ponds. Ludong has become almost an endangered specie because its catch has been decreasing annually. The 1.5 kilogram fish is now the subject of study by researchers.
